 Pudding head

I have been waiting a long time to make this hat for someone:

yarn: Cleckheaton 8-Ply (brown and white), Dale Heilo (green),
Heirloom Easy Care (red)
pattern: Kids' Knits for Heads, Hands and Toes (Debbie Bliss)

and I think it's adorable. My daughter, on the other hand, isn't convinced:

 denim overall

I've just finished denim overall.

This is my own design, but for pockets,I used the pattern HARVEY from Little Treasures by Louis Daykin.
I love denim yarn because it doesn't pill and dirt is not anxious.
More photos are here.

And I've knitted Ruffle Rib Socks from BETTER-THAN-BOOTIES BABY SOCKS
I love this zig-zag bind off on instep.
More photos are here.

And one more project,I've knitted Cable and Moss Stitch Hat from debbie bliss Baby Cashmerino book.
I started by purly white's pattern, but its depth of the hat was insufficient for my son, I had to back to Bliss's pattern.
More photos are here.
The vest that he wears together is tommy from from RYC Classic Bambino (book 12).

By the way,I washed my Sirder Snnugly Baby Bamboo vest, there was no problem unless it was handwashed.
I'll post a comment here when there is a problem washing several times.

I'm pretending that I'm not having a baby in two weeks

I still have so much to do to get ready for the new baby that it's just overwhelming ... so rather than turn to this weekend and get stuff done, I decided to tackle a project that's been on my to-knit list ever since I first saw it last spring:

yarn: Rowan Calmer (#462 "Chiffon")
pattern:
Shedir from Knitty, Fall 2004
modifications for size found
here

love the decreases

This Scarlet O'Hara routine was a calculated risk -- I did have my first baby a month early -- but my doctor's appointment this morning confirmed that this girl doesn't appear to be in any hurry to arrive. So today I'm making a to-do list, and figure that I'll work my way through it over the next 14 days.

I think it's do-able. But I'm keeping my fingers (and legs) crossed, just to be safe.

 Baby Berry Tart

I think this is my first post to the group, so "HI!". I have had it in my mind that I would make one day each week be "hat day" and I would work on just baby hats, but so far that hasn't happened. Oh well :) Anyway, this berry tart hat (from knitty.com) is for my sweetie pie, due at Thanksgiving. While I like the pattern and the resulting hat, I won't make any more of these - I just don't like making bobbles!

Being without an actual baby to try it on, I have had to recruit some innocent bystanders (for once, not the dog!)

I used Reynolds Saucy Mercerized Cotton and it took maybe two days to make.

One little hat for my little man

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

It's a little big for him, but as a friend said, it's all about perspective...I didn't over-estimate his head circumference, I gave him room to grow - lots of it!

The sweater that he's wearing is one that I made before he was born. It too is rather large roomy.

Aside from that I have just been knitting little longies for some custom orders.

First a pink girly one..

and then some purple and brown ones, also for a little girl

Both pairs are knitted from my own hand-dyed yarns.

That's all the baby knitting I have done for now.

Inspired by this post, I decided to knit two cotton hats from Last Minute Knitted Gifts for a friends of mine who is having twin girls. This is the first one:

Children's Cotton Hat

I used less than one ball of Sirdar Luxury Soft Cotton DK, and to account for the difference in gauge, I casted the number of stitches for the largest size to make the smallest size.

Debbie Bliss Cardigan with Moss Stitch Border

No babies yet, so will have to rely on "Mr. Bear" to model. This jacket is from the Debbie Bliss Baby Knits book and is one of my 'old reliables'. I made it in the 0-3 month size, in the very washable, cuddly Baby Cashmerino yarn ... one of my favorites. It took less than 2 balls of yarn. Loved the abalone shell buttons! You may recognize the hat and socks from a previous post here and here.

Baby Hat

I have been playing with making self-striping yarn for my Etsy shop, and this is my very first experiment. I think I'll keep playing ......
