 A Crown for a Princess

This is the Make Believe Crown from Interweave Knits Summer 2006. My great-niece, Cara, was due to have her first birthday in June, so how could I resist? It's made from the leftover Rowan Natural Silk Aran from the Ribbed Jacket below. I added some clear beads and some purple ones, but I'm not sure of you can see them. The beads are sewn on afterwards, not knitted in.

All the stretch comes from the garter stitch and she seemed to find it comfortable; she didn't try to take it off and it didn't slide down over her eyes. She kept it on all through her party and I understand she wore it to nursery for a couple of days afterwards, although this may have been her mother's idea, not hers :)

It's beautiful! What a clever idea for the birthday girl. Glad to hear that she liked it and it didn't slip down. May have to try that pattern sometime!

That is so cute. My son is 1 on the 24th and I think I need to knit him one of these.

Thanks so much for posting this! I am new to bloggy baby bumpers, and reading old posts, and this one sent me straight to interweave to make one for my one year old's birthday! Thanks!
